Grenada Extends Carriacou Carnival Public Holiday

Grenada's Prime Minister, Tillman Thomas, after consultation with his Cabinet, and in accordance with the Bank Holiday Act Cap. 25, has extended the regional public holiday for the Carriacou Carnival to a second day.

Two years ago (2010-02-03), Grenada's Prime Minister, the same Tillman Thomas, declared a new regional public holiday for the Carriacou Carnival, in the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique, which celebrate Carnival during the pre-Lent period, on a different date than the rest of Grenada which observes Carnival in August (2011-11-29).
