Honduras' Bank Association (Asociación Hondureña de Instituciones Bancarias) has announced that the bank holiday associated with the upcoming Día de la Raza would remain on Monday, October 15, 2012, despite the recent presidential move of the upcoming Día de la Raza public holiday from its previously-announced date of Monday, October 15, 2012, to Tuesday, October 16, 2012.

Last week (2012-10-06), Honduras President, Porfirio Lobo, announced that the upcoming Día de la Raza public holiday would be moved from its previously-announced date of Monday, October 15, 2012, to Tuesday, October 16, 2012, to coincide with the Honduras qualification match against Canada.

Earlier that same week (2012-10-01), the government of Honduras had officially announced that 2 of the 3 of the upcoming annual October public holidays (October 3 and 12) will be moved to the nearest Monday.

In that communiqué from the Secretaría del Interior y Población had also stated that the government of Honduras was considering declaring the afternoon of Tuesday, October 16, 2012, as a one-off half-day public holiday in Honduras to allow people to watch the Honduras qualification match against Canada, but that this was yet to be confirmed.

It seems that, instead, President Porfirio Lobo decided to give the full day off, and move the Monday, October 15, 2012, non-working public holiday to Tuesday, October 16, 2012, to allow people to watch the Honduras qualification match against Canada ("a fin de dar oportunidad a los hondureños para presenciar el partido que jugarán las selecciones nacionales de Honduras y Canadá").
