Madagascar Public Holiday Survives Government U-Turns

This morning, Madagascar's Ministry of Labour, Employment and the Civil Service unexpectedly declared that both the announcement of a public holiday on September 25 and the related circulated decree were false, and that September 25 would therefore be a normal working day.
This appeared to confirm an earlier statement by President of the Refoundation Michaël Randrianirina that no such holiday had been approved by the Council of Ministers.
However, only a few hours later, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Presidency reversed that reversal and confirmed that September 25 would, after all, be observed as a paid non-working day nationwide.

The Government of India's State of Tamil Nadu has issued the Notification No. II(1)/PUMIS/21(a)/2026 in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 401, declaring Tuesday, October 6, 2026, a public holiday for the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies, where by-elections will be held.
The aforementioned notification was made under the Negotiable Instruments Act through G.O. Ms. No.575.
