Mozambique's Minister of Labour, Helena Taipo, has declared that Monday, December 24, 2012, would be a one-off public holiday "to ensure better preparation for the Family Day (Christmas) on the 25th".

As per the aforementioned announcement the upcoming one-off non-working public holiday in Mozambique "does not extend to workers whose nature of work does not allow for interruption and where a disruption would negatively affect the public interest".

The declaration of one-off non-working public holidays is a relatively common feature of Mozambique's official public holidays calendar (2011-12-05, 2011-10-16, 2010-12-29, 2010-12-23,...).
