The Tongan Ministry of Information and Communications has issued a statement clarifying the status and observance of Tongan public holidays that fall on a weekend as well as of the new public holiday for the official birthday of Crown Prince of Tonga (Tupouto'a ‘Ulukalala).

The aforementioned announcement follows last month's confirmation that the Tongan Cabinet has declared Monday, September 17, 2012, as an official public holiday to mark the Official Birthday of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Tupouto'a ‘Ulukalala (12-Sep-2012) and the revamping of Tongan public holidays rules, 2 years ago (19-May-2010).
