China's General Office of the State Council has setup polls on the major Chinese social networks and portals (Sina, Sohu and Tencent) asking for citizen feedback as to the current system of annual non-working public holidays in China.
This could mean significant changes to 2014 non-working public holidays in China for 2014 as compared to previous years (2012-12-11 and 2012-11-12) as the previous overhaul of China's annual list of official non-working public holidays (2007-12-17, 2007-12-10, 2007-11-17) was preceded by a similar poll of citizens via the internet (2007-11-09).
Early polling results indicate that about 55 to 60% of respondents are against the week long Golden Week public holidays system instituted almost 15 years ago (1999-09-20) and only partially reduced in scope in 2007 when China overhauled its system of non-working public holidays.
