Libya's ruling National Transitional Council has announced that Thursday, January 24, 2013, had been declared a non-working public holiday throughout Libya on account of the upcoming Mawlid Al-Nabi (Birth of the Prophet).
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the overhaul of Libyan public holidays carried-out at the beginning of last year (2012-01-08) and in particular confirms that Libya is no longer using the Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Science (LCRSS) Islamic Calendar (2007-08-29), and now seems to use a variant of the Saudi Umm-al-Qora Islamic Calendar.
