The Prime Minister's Department of Malaysia's Federal Government has announced a further change to the previously announced list of official non-working public holidays in Malaysia for the upcoming calendar year 2014.
As per the aforementioned "Pemberitahuan Warta No.43367 bertarikh 6 Disember 2013", the previously announced date of Thursday, October 23, 2014, for the next Deepavali public holiday in Malaysia, has been changed to Wednesday, October 22, 2014.
Last summer (2013-07-13), when Malaysia's Cabinet's and the Constitution and Government Relations Department of the Prime Minister's Office, jointly issued the official Federal Public Holidays Schedule 2014 and State Public Holiday Schedule 2014, we had remarked that the Jadual Hari Kelepasan Am Persekutuan 2014 (Federal Public Holidays Schedule 2014) specified Thursday, October 23, 2014, as the date of the 2014 Deepavali public holiday in Malaysia, the same as the Singapore-announced date of Deepavali 2014, which we believe is incorrect (2013-04-10 and 2013-04-09). At that time we had wondered if the Malaysian government would make a change announcement, as the Singapore government routinely does (2013-04-09, 2009-02-10, 2008-03-27, 2008-02-25, 2003-04-11, and 2002-03-04), or stick to an incorrect date.
