The Office of the President of the Maldives, Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, has issued press communique 2013-512 indicating that Sunday, November 17, 2013, had been declared as another one-off non-working public holiday in the Maldives, on account of the second round of this year's presidential election.
Late last summer (2013-09-05), President Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik had similarly declared Sunday, September 8, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday in the Maldives, on account that the first round of this year's presidential election.
The Sunday, September 8, 2013, and Sunday, November 17, 2013, one-off public holidays of the aforementioned announcements were not included in the list of official 2013 public holidays in the Maldives as released by the government of the Maldives at the beginning of this year (2013-01-07).
On the occasion of the previous Maldives Presidential election (2008-10-02), then President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, had declared both Wednesday and Thursday, October 8 and 9, 2008, as one-off public holidays on the occasion of the October 8 election.
