The Interior Minister of the German State of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony), Boris Pistorius, has announced that he was in favor, in principle, of the declaration of an additional annual non-working public holiday (gesetzlicher Feiertage) in the German State of Niedersachsen.

This new public holiday could be either Reformationstag, on October 31, or Buß- und Bettag, which occurs on variable dates in November.
