The Ministre de l'Emploi, du Travail et de la Sécurité Sociale of the government of Niger has declared Wednesday, January 1, 2014, as the date of the upcoming annual "premier jour de l'an" (New Year's Day) non-working public holiday in Niger.
The aforementioned announcement, which refers specifically to the "Loi n° 97-20 du 20 juin 1997 instituant les fêtes légales" (1997-06-23) is also in line with the subsequent "Loi n°98-05 du 29 avril 1998 instituant les fêtes légales" (1998-04-29), as amended by the "Loi n°2006-08 du 02 mai 2006" (2006-05-09), and with the recent announcement by the Government of Niger (2013-12-17) specifying the non-working public holidays in Niger for the calendar year 2014.
