Nigeria Considers New State Public Holiday

The governor of Nigeria's Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has announced that his government would consider declaring an annual public holiday in honor of the first military governor of the old Western State, Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi.

One-off state public holidays are relatively common in Nigeria (19-Aug-2013, 09-Jun-2013, 21-Apr-2013, 16-Dec-2012, 09-Nov-2012, 08-Jul-2012, 09-Jun-2012, 25-Apr-2012, and 09-Apr-2012).
