The Nigerian Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria had declared Thursday and Friday, August 8-9, 2013, as the non-working public holidays for the upcoming Eid-el-Fitri (End of Ramadan) in Nigeria.
As happened in previous years (2012-08-13, 2009-09-18 and 2008-09-25), though not systematically (2011-08-24 and 2010-09-03), the Nigerian Government moved the End of Ramadan public holidays to adjoin a nearby weekend, and seems to have abandoned its previous practice of following the Libyan Muslim calendar (2007-09-14).
