Pakistan Public Holiday May 11

The Pakistan Ministry of the Interior has announced that the Government of Pakistan had finally declared Saturday, May 11, 2013, the date of the upcoming parliamentary elections, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan.

In addition, it was announced that private and government educational institutions throughout Punjab and Sindh will remain closed from May 8 to 11, 2013.

Last month (24-Apr-2013), the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had sent a letter to the Pakistan Minitry of the Interior asking the government to declare the date of the upcoming parliamentary elections, Saturday, May 11, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan.

The date of previous elections, both parliamentary and presidential, have on occasion been declared one-off non-working public holiday throughout Pakistan (22-Aug-2008 and 10-Sep-2002).
