Romanian Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, has announced an extended resolution declaring Friday, December 27, 2013, Tuesday, December 31, 2013, and Friday, January 3, 2014, as additional one-off non-working public sector holidays in Romania for the upcoming year-end 2013-2014.

The aforementioned declaration of December 27 and 31, 2013, as well as January 3, 2014, as one off non-working public sector holidays in Romania, thus amends the lists of public holidays for 2013 and 2014 in Romania (2012-11-13 and 2013-02-25), and follows the announcement by Romanian Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, a couple of weeks ago (2013-12-01), of an upcoming resolution declaring Friday, December 27, 2013, and Friday, January 3, 2014, as additional one-off non-working public sector holidays in Romania (December 31st was not mentioned, then).

As is common in such cases (2013-08-14, 2012-11-28 and 2012-04-26) when bridge public holidays are declared in Romania, the aforementioned one-off non-working public sector holidays on December 27 and 31, 2013, as well as January 3, 2014, will be compensated by the declaration of the same number of working Saturdays, although these dates have not yet been announced ("zilele vor fi recuperate in luna ianuarie").

Last summer (2013-08-14), Romanian Prime Minister, Victor Ponta, had declared Friday, August 16, 2013, a one-off non-working public sector holiday throughout Romania to link the recently-added (2011-08-10), August 15, public holiday with the subsequent weekend.

Last year (2012-11-28), the Romanian Government similarly declared Monday, December 24, and Monday December 31, 2012, as additional one-off non-working public holidays in Romania, while, five years ago (2007-12-13), Romania's then Prime Minister had similarly declared Monday, December 24, 2007,as a one-off, bridge public holiday, albeit only for the public sector.
