Solomon Islands Public Holiday June 14

The private secretary to the Governor General of the Solomon Islands, Nigel Maezama, has announced that the Government of the Solomon Islands had declared Friday, June 14, 2013, as a non-working public holiday in the Solomon Islands.

According to the aforementioned communiqué, the Queen's birthday is usually observed in the Solomon Islands on June 15, which this year, falls on Saturday. Therefore, "to allow Sabbath keepers to attend the celebrations, the country will mark the event on Friday, and as a result, the Government has declared Friday a public holiday".
