The Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Ric Todd, has confirmed that, to comply with the provisions of the Elections Ordinance, the 2013 Commonwealth Day non-working public holiday in the Turks and Caicos Islands had been moved from March 11, the initially-announced 2013 date, to Monday, March 25, 2013.

Last month (2013-02-13), the Office Of Public Service Management of the Turks and Caicos Islands had announced that, to comply with the provisions of the Elections Ordinance, it would soon amend its recently-released list of the official non-working public holidays in the Turks and Caicos Islands, for the calendar year 2013.

According to the Turks and Caicos Supervisor of Elections, Dudley Lewis, due to the upcoming Cheshire Hall and Richmond Hills by-election, and the provisions of the Elections Ordinance with regards to the minimum number of working days before an election can be held, the 2013 Commonwealth Day non-working public holiday in the Turks and Caicos Islands will need to be moved from March 11, the 2013 date announced earlier this year (2013-01-12), to Monday, March 25, 2013.

In the past, the Turks and Caicos Islands official lists of public holidays dates for the coming, or current, year was often amended, early in the year (2012-03-27, 2011-02-25, 2010-02-01 and 2009-03-17).
