Zimbabwe's Ministry of Home Affairs has published an Extraordinary Gazette which declares Saturday, March 16, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday throughout Zimbabwe to allow every employee time to participate in the upcoming constitutional referendum.
As on past occasions (2012-12-20 and 2011-12-20), the aforementioned announcement, is based on and refers to, the "Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act (Chapter10:21)", whereby the President has the power to declare special one-off public holidays under Section 2 (2) of the said "Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act".
