The director of the legal department of Angola's Ministry of Public Work and Social Security Administration (MAPTSS), Jesus Maiato, has issued a statement ruling-out the declaration of an additional, substitute, non-working public holiday in Angola, on account of the upcoming November 2, "Dia dos Finados", annual non-working public holiday of Angola, falling on a Sunday in 2014.

The aforementioned announcement ("Por isso, neste caso concreto, em que o feriado coincidirá com o domingo, não teremos ponte, o que significa que segunda-feira deveremos retomar a nossa actividade normal de trabalho"), is in line with the current "Ley de los Feriados Nacionales y Locales" (2010-12-16) which revised the former legislation on public holidays in Angola, and when it went into effect on January 1st, 2011, replaced the "Lei nº 7/03, de 21 de Março de 2003" (2003-03-24), which replaced the "Lei nº 7/03, de 21 de Março de 2001" (2001-03-27), which itself amended the "Lei 16/96 de Septiembre 27 de 1996" (1996-09-30).
