The commission in charge of examining bills proposing new public holidays in Argentina (comisión de Cultura de la Cámara de Diputados) is examining a bill that would declare yet another one-off commemorative non-working public holiday on June 29, 2015, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the declaration of independence from foreign control ("200 años de la primera Declaración Independentista de la dominación extranjera").

Such commemorative, one-off ("sólo sería feriado en el año XXXX en forma excepcional") non-working public holidays have become common in recent years.

• Monday, May 24, 2010, was declared a one-off (por única vez) non-working public holiday to coincide with Argentina's bicentennial (2010-05-04, 2010-03-31, 2010-03-11 and 2010-01-25).
• Monday, February 27, 2012, was declared a one-off public holiday in Argentina to commemorate the bicentennial of the creation and first pledge of allegiance to the national flag (2011-12-23, 2011-12-01, and 2011-07-27).

All the above, despite a bill introduced in Argentina's lower house of Congress by MP Enrique Thomas which would limit the number of national non-working public holidays in Argentina to 15 in any given year (2012-03-26).
