Australian Victoria Rules-Out Public Holidays Changes

Source: State Government of Victoria (Melbourne)
Posted: Wednesday, November 5, 2014

The Premier of the State Government of Australia's State of Victoria, Denis Napthine, has stated that the annual non-working public holiday for the Melbourne Cup would remain set on a Tuesday, and that there is no need for a bridge non-working public holiday on the Monday preceding the annual non-working public holiday for the Melbourne Cup.

The aforementioned announcement is in line with the passage, 3 years ago (2011-06-06), of "A Bill for an Act to amend the Public Holidays Act 1993 and for other purposes" which reverses the Public Holidays Amendment Bill 2008 (2008-08-16).
