The Kenyan Government's Labour Secretary, Kambi Kazungu, has issued a communiqué denying that Monday, July 7, 2014, would be declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Kenya, as had recently been requested/announced by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
As per Secretary Kazungu's communiqué, "The Kenya constitution 2010 stipulates specific days as public holidays. Any other day that is not gazetted by the government is a working day", referring to the Constitution in its latest from as passed 4 years ago (2010-08-12 and 2010-08-10).
