The President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has issued a proclamation from the Executive Mansion declaring Friday, August 1st, 2014, as a one-off non-working public holiday in order to sanitize all public areas in the context of the current Ebola outbreak.

The declaration of one-off non-working public holidays in Liberia is relatively common (2012-06-20, 2012-05-02, 2012-04-23, 2012-01-13, 2011-08-09, 2011-01-28, 2009-11-23 and 2009-11-09).
