The chairperson of Malta's Alternattiva Demokratika party has submitted a bill that would move mid-week non-working public holidays in Malta to the nearest Monday or Friday.
Recall that none of the public holidays contained in the recently-announced (2014-01-10) list of national holidays and non-working public holidays in Malta for the calendar year 2014 is moved to a Monday, despite last spring's (2013-03-10) general elections victory of Malta's Labour Party, and their promise (2013-02-01 and 2012-08-28) to restore the system of Monday holidays when a public holiday fell on a Sunday (2005-01-15).
