Montserrat's Premier, Reuben T. Meade, has announced that the date for the upcoming General Elections in Montserrat was Thursday, September 11, 2014.
In Caribbean countries it is common, but not systematic (2011-11-28), for the day after an election to be declared as a one-off non-working public holiday (2014-06-12, 2013-02-20, 2010-01-10, 2009-12-30, 2009-12-19, 2009-09-08, 2009-03-13, 2005-05-05, 2005-02-22, 2003-05-21, 2003-10-21, 2003-11-27, 2007-01-02, 2001-12-03 and 1997-05-23), and indeed this was the case on the occasion of Montserrat's previous General Elections (2009-09-08).
If the day after the aforementioned general elections was declared a non-working public holiday in Montserrat, then it would be a one-off non-working public holiday in addition to the annual list of non-working public holidays, and in lieu public holidays in Montserrat for the calendar year 2014, as announced by the Montserrat's Office of the Deputy Governor, earlier this year (2014-04-12).
