The Solomon Islands caretaker Minister for Home Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister, Manasseh Maelanga, the minister responsible for declaring national public holidays in the Solomon Islands, has announced that the upcoming National Election day, Wednesday, November 19, 2014, would once again be declared a national non-working public holiday in the Solomon Islands.
As was the case 4 years ago (2010-07-28), the aforementioned announcement came by way of Solomon Islands' Chief Electoral Officer, Polycarp Haununu, who was quoted as adding that "the public holiday will not cover the several days that some people may need in order to vote in their home Province".
