The UAE's Government, through Humaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, has announced that the annual non-working public holiday for the upcoming Israa wal Mairaj had once again been moved to Sunday, May 25, 2014.
In the past (2014-01-05, 2011-11-24, 2011-06-14, and 2011-02-07), as in the aforementioned announcement, the UAE has moved the date of some of the UAE's lesser public holidays around to adjoin a nearby weekend, in accordance with Article No. 100 of the Cabinet Law No. 13, "which allows carrying over an official holiday to the beginning or end of the week if it falls between two working days".
