Australian Queensland Labour Day Public Holiday Update

The recently sworn-in Palaszczuk government of the Australian State of Queensland, has confirmed that it was planning to make further amendments to the Holidays Act 1983, so that, perhaps as early as this year, the Labour Day annual public holiday, in the State of Queensland, would no longer be observed on the first Monday in October.

A couple of years ago (2012-10-30), the Department of Justice and Attorney-General of Australia's State of Queensland had amended the Holidays Act 1983, so that from 2013 onward, the dates of the Birthday of the Sovereign (Queen's Birthday) public holiday and of the Labour Day public holiday were changed.

The list of Queensland state public holidays for 2013 and beyond did therefore take into account the recently-announced reversal (2012-09-11, 2012-08-20, and 2012-06-12) of last year's move of the Queen's Birthday public holiday to the month of October (2011-12-03, 2011-11-08, and 2011-11-05).
