Bolivian Papal Public Holidays Extended To July 8-9

The head of Bolivia's Ministerio de Trabajo, Empleo y Previsión Social, Gonzalo Trigoso, has announced the declaration of one additional non-working public holiday in Bolivia, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis, was approved at yesterday's Cabinet meeting of July 1st, 2015.

Pope Francis will be in Bolivia July 8-9-10, 2015.

The following month (2015-05-05), Bolivia's President, Evo Morales, confirmed (2015-04-20) that the Bolivian Government was studying the declaration of one or more nationwide non-working public holidays in Bolivia, on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis, and the mass the Pope is scheduled to hold in Santa Cruz, and that July 9 had already been declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Santa Cruz, though not yet nationally ("el feriado por lo menos en Santa Cruz, ya está aprobado. Falta en toda Bolivia").

As per today's announcement, Wednesday, July 8, 2015, was also declared a regional public holiday in the state of La Paz ("feriado en el departamento de La Paz el día 8 de julio").

Note that July 6 and 7 were declared as one-off non-working public holidays in Ecuador, also on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis (2015-06-08 and 2015-06-01) and that Paraguay declared Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2015, as one-off non-working public holidays in Paraguay on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis in Paraguay (2015-06-09).
