The President of the Gambia, Yahya Jammeh, has announced that the upcoming annual non-working public holiday in the Gambia for the Tamharit (aka. Yawmul Ashura) would be Saturday, October 24, 2015, a date which has been declared a non-working public holiday throughout the Gambia.
Today's announcement ("His Excellency the President of The Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh Babili Mansa, GMRG, FAAICL is pleased to declare Saturday 24th October 2015 as Public Holiday throughout The Gambia in observance of Yawmul Ashura locally known as Tamharit") follows last month's extension (19-Sep-2015 and 17-Sep-2015) of the 2015 annual non-working public holiday in the Gambia for the Tobaski (aka Eid al-Adha or Feast of Sacrifice).
