The Governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo, has once again declared the Friday after the upcoming Thanksgiving non-working public holiday of Guam, Friday, November 27, 2017, as a one-off GovGuam public sector holiday in Guam.
As per the aforementioned Executive Order, the was granted to Guam public servants to "allow parents and children to spend some family time together", and is in addition to the official list of non-working public holidays in Guam for the calendar year 2015 as released earlier this year (2015-01-09) and later amended (2015-01-10).
Last year (2014-11-21), a similar declaration of Friday, November 28, 2014, as a one-off GovGuam public sector holiday in Guam was made to allow civil servants "to rest and re-energize"), and a few years before (2011-11-22), the Governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo, had similarly declared Friday, November 25, 2011, the day after Thanksgiving, as a GovGuam public sector holiday granted for public servants to "Rest, take a break and re-energize" after a difficult year marked by "suspension of pay raises and increments".
