Kuwait Mulls 4-day Prophet's Birthday Public Holiday

Sources within the Kuwaiti Civil Service Commission have indicated that the Kuwaiti Council of Ministers was considering the declaration of Thursday, December 24, 2015, as an additional non-working public holiday in Kuwait, should the upcoming annual Prophet's Birthday non-working public holiday fall on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, one day away from the Kuwaiti weekend.

In past years (2014-01-10, 2014-01-07, 2012-01-19, 2011-02-15 and 2011-01-22), though not systematically (2013-01-22), the Kuwaiti public holiday for the birthday of Prophet Mohammad was often moved to another date to adjust to a conflicting weekend, or to link to it.

Recall that, since 2007 (2007-08-04), weekends in Kuwait are Friday and Saturday.
