The Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, has declared Thursday, May 7, 2015, as a one-off non-working state public holiday on account of the upcoming Permatang Pauh by-election.

Two years ago (04-May-2013), when he was the caretaker Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, had similarly declared Monday, May 6, 2013, the day after that year's general elections as a one-off non-working state public holiday, as did Selangor (03-May-2013), while most non-Sunday weekend states declared Sunday, May 5, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday; Kelantan (18-Apr-2013), Kedah (24-Apr-2013), and Terengganu (17-Apr-2013 and 26-Apr-2013).
