The Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, has declared Thursday, May 7, 2015, as a one-off non-working state public holiday on account of the upcoming Permatang Pauh by-election.
Two years ago (2013-05-04), when he was the caretaker Chief Minister of Malaysia's State of Penang, Lim Guan Eng, had similarly declared Monday, May 6, 2013, the day after that year's general elections as a one-off non-working state public holiday, as did Selangor (2013-05-03), while most non-Sunday weekend states declared Sunday, May 5, 2013, as a one-off non-working public holiday; Kelantan (2013-04-18), Kedah (2013-04-24), and Terengganu (2013-04-17 and 2013-04-26).
