The government of Mauritania has released a presidential communiqué declaring Friday, December 25, 2015, as a non-working public holiday in Mauritania on account of the upcoming second observance in 2015 of the "Aid El Maoulid" (the Prophet's Birthday) annual non-working public holiday in Mauritania.
The aforementioned communiqué is in line with the communiqué, 10 days ago, by the "Commission Centrale d'Observation du Croissant Lunaire" that the upcoming Aid El Maoulid would be observed on Thursday, December 24, 2015, in Mauritania, as it clearly states that Friday, December 25, 2015, is declared a non-working public holiday in Mauritania on the day after the Prophet's Birthday ("vendredi 25 décembre 2015, lendemain de la fête de l'Aid El Maoulid sera fériée, chômée et payée sur toute l'étendue du territoire national").
At the beginning of the year (2014-12-31), the government of Mauritania had declared Friday, January 2, 2015, as an additional non-working public holiday in Mauritania to link the annual January 1st non-working public holiday and the subsequent "fête du Maouloud" (the Prophet's Birthday).
Note that, as Mauritania is back to Saturday/Sunday weekends since last year (2014-09-12), the aforementioned announcement of Friday, December 25, 2015, as a non-working public holiday in Mauritania on account of the upcoming "Aid El Maoulid", means a 3-day public holidays period in Mauritania in late 2015.
