The President of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes, has signed into law a bill previously approved by the Paraguayan Senate and then Lower House, to declare Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2015, as one-off non-working public holidays in Paraguay on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis in Paraguay.

A few weeks ago (2015-05-22), the Paraguayan Senate had approved a motion to declare Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2015, as one-off non-working public holidays in Paraguay on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis in Paraguay, and a week later (2015-05-28), the Paraguayan Lower House (Cámara de Diputados), in turn, approved the same motion to declare Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2015, as one-off non-working public holidays in Paraguay on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis in Paraguay. The then moved to the Presidency for ratification (or veto).

The declaration of Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11, 2015, as one-off non-working public holidays in Paraguay on account of the upcoming visit of Pope Francis in Paraguay, will be in addition to the list of 2015 public holidays in Paraguay as announced late last year (2014-12-07 and 2014-12-18).

Note that July 9 has already been declared a one-off non-working public holiday in Bolivia's department of Santa Cruz, though not yet nationally (2015-05-05 and 2015-04-20).
