Philippines' Presidential Communications Secretary, Herminio Coloma Jr., has sent a communique to the media ruling-out any chance that Monday, November 2, 2015, would be, declared as an additional non-working public holiday in the Philippines.
Once again (30-Oct-2014 and 27-Oct-2014), in its statement ("under Proclamation 831, only November 1 was included as a special nonworking day"), Malacaρang referred to Proclamation No. 831, s. 2014, signed by President Benigno Aquino III, last year (23-Jul-2014), and which lists the special and regular non-working public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2015.
The need for the Government of the Philippines to issue last-minute statements denying the declaration of day in lieu, or bridge, public holidays is common (30-Oct-2014, 27-Oct-2014, 19-Aug-2014, 21-Jul-2014, 08-Jun-2014, 24-Feb-2014, 23-Oct-2013, 27-Dec-2012, 12-Jul-2012, 03-Jun-2012 and 07-Mar-2012).
