Philippines All Souls Day 2015 Public Holiday Ruled-Out

Philippines' Presidential Communications Secretary, Herminio Coloma Jr., has sent a communique to the media ruling-out any chance that Monday, November 2, 2015, would be, declared as an additional non-working public holiday in the Philippines.

Once again (2014-10-30 and 2014-10-27), in its statement ("under Proclamation 831, only November 1 was included as a special nonworking day"), Malacañang referred to Proclamation No. 831, s. 2014, signed by President Benigno Aquino III, last year (2014-07-23), and which lists the special and regular non-working public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2015.

The need for the Government of the Philippines to issue last-minute statements denying the declaration of day in lieu, or bridge, public holidays is common (2014-10-30, 2014-10-27, 2014-08-19, 2014-07-21, 2014-06-08, 2014-02-24, 2013-10-23, 2012-12-27, 2012-07-12, 2012-06-03 and 2012-03-07).
