Earlier this morning, Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) issued a press release declaring an additional, one-off non-working public holiday in Singapore on Friday, August 7, 2015, to extend the upcoming annual National Day public holiday in Singapore to 4 consecutive days.
As per the official press release, "As Singapore marks 50 years of independence this year, the President has declared 7 August 2015 (Friday) a public holiday. This will make for an extended Jubilee Weekend over the 7 to 10 August period so as to enable all Singaporeans to participate in commemorating this special milestone in our nation's history.".
The official press release declaring an additional, one-off non-working public holiday in Singapore on Friday, August 7, 2015, goes on to state that "Employers should give their employees a paid public holiday on this day, just like for any other public holiday.".
The aforementioned declaration of a public holiday in Singapore on Friday, August 7, 2015, will be in addition to the official list of annual non-working public holidays in Singapore, as announced last spring (2014-04-08).
