The UAE's government has announced its annual list of expected non-working public holidays in the UAE for the calendar year 2016.
The aforementioned annual announcement (2015-01-04, 2014-01-07 and 2012-12-29) of the list of expected non-working public holidays in the UAE for the calendar year 2016, generally follows the Umm al-Qora Saudi calendar, though some last-minute departure led by Saudi Arabia are always possible (2015-09-15 and 2015-09-14).
It also confirms the recent report (2015-12-21) by the UAE's Emirates New Agency, despite the 2016 New Year's Day annual non-working public holiday in the UAE falling on a Friday, the UAE's weekend, there will be no additional, day in lieu (or substitute) non-working January 2016 public holidays declared in the UAE.
As always, the list of expected non-working public holidays in the UAE for the calendar year 2016 could be modified as per the "Cabinet Resolution No. (17) of 2009 regarding the Public Holidays at the Federal Government" (2009-04-26) which allows for the moving of mid-week (2006-05-31) public holidays to adjoin the nearest weekend ("Save as for Eids-related holidays, any of the public holidays specified in the preceding Article may be changed to the beginning or the end of the week when falling between two business days"), as was most recently done for the date of the Prophet's Birthday public holiday in the UAE (2015-12-13).
