The Algerian government, through its Direction Générale de la Fonction Publique has announced that Sunday, May 1st, 2016, had been declared a non-working public holiday in Algeria, on account of the upcoming "fête du Travail".
As usual (2015-04-27, 2014-04-29 and 2012-04-30), the aforementioned announcement that Sunday, May 1st, 2016, had been declared a non-working public holiday in Algeria, on account of the upcoming annual Labour Day public holiday of Algeria, mentions the public sector only ("la journée du dimanche 1er mai 2016 sera chômée et payée pour l'ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques, y compris les personnes payées à l'heure ou à la journée"), though it does refer to the current legislation regulating non-working public holidays in Algeria (loi n° 63-278 du 26 juillet 1963 modifiée et complétée fixant la liste des fêtes légales).
Recall that, almost a decade ago (2009-07-24), the Algerian government changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to a "mixed" or "semi-universal" Friday/Saturday weekend.
