The Algerian Ministry of Labour (Ministère du Travail, de l'Emploi et de la Sécurité Sociale) has announced that Wednesday, October 12, 2016, had been declared as the date of the "10 Moharram 1438 de l'Hégire" and a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of annual Achoura (Ashura) non-working public holiday in Algeria.
Late last month (2016-09-28), as was done in past years (2015-10-13), the same Algerian public sector ministry (Direction Générale de la Fonction Publique) had announced that Monday, October 3, 2016, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of the upcoming Hijri 1438 Islamic New Year annual non-working public holiday of Algeria, which logically would mean that Wednesday, October 12, 2016, would be declared as the date of the non-working public holiday in Algeria on account of annual Achoura ("le jour de l’achoura est prévue pour le mercredi 12 octobre 2016").
Recall that, 7 years ago (2009-07-24), the Algerian government changed its weekends from Thursday/Friday to the "mixed" or "semi-universal" Friday/Saturday weekend.
