Bahrain's Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, has issued a circular declaring Sunday to Wednesday, September 11 to 14, 2016, as the annual non-working public sector holidays in Bahrain to mark the upcoming Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) public sector holidays for the Islamic year 1437.
Contrary to what happened in some past years (2015-09-21, 2014-10-01, 2012-10-23 and 2012-08-15), the aforementioned dates for Eid Al-Adha in Bahrain do not straddle the Bahrain weekend of Fridays and Saturdays (2006-08-02), and therefore the circular does not specify additional, day in lieu, public sector holidays to be observed.
In fact, though employers are free to be more generous than the circular specifies, the Bahrain private sector will most likely not get Arafat Day on Sunday, September 11, 2016, as a non-working public holiday as part of the upcoming Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) public holidays for the Islamic year 1437.
