The Acting Director of the Banking Services Directorate of the Central Bank of Bahrain, Hesa Abdulla Al Sada, has announced that the Central Bank of Bahrain had declared a bank holiday in Bahrain on Sunday, January 1, 2016, on account of the annual non-working public holiday in Bahrain to mark Western New Year.
As the aforementioned date of Sunday, January 1, 2016, does not coincide with the Fridays and Saturdays weekly days of rest in Bahrain (2006-08-02), the aforementioned circular does not stipulate a day in lieu, and is in line with the annual list of expected bank holidays and public holidays in Bahrain for the calendar year 2017, released by Bahrain's Central Bank last autumn (2016-10-15).
