Vietnam Announces 2027 Public Holidays
Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hanoi)
The Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Thi Thanh Tra, has issued the document No.10065/VPCP-KGVX settling the dates of Vietnamese public holidays until the summer of 2027.
As per the aforementioned document, "Considering the proposals of the Ministry of Interior in Report No. 10033/TTr-BNV dated September 11, 2026 and Report No. 10137/TTr-BNV dated September 14, 2026 regarding the holiday schedule for Vietnamese Culture Day in 2026, Lunar New Year (Year of the Goat) in 2027, and National Day in 2027, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra agrees with the Ministry of Interior's proposal on the holiday schedules: 7 days for Lunar New Year, 4 days for National Day in 2027, and 1 day for Vietnamese Culture Day in 2026.".
Specifically, the Lunar New Year holiday in 2027 will be from Thursday, February 4th, 2027 (the 28th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Horse) to Wednesday, February 10th, 2027 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Goat), and the National Day holiday in 2027 will consist of 4 consecutive days from Thursday, September 2nd, 2027 to Sunday, September 5th, 2027 (including 2 days of the official National Day holiday and 2 regular weekend days).
Finally, civil servants and public employees will have one day off for Vietnamese Culture Day on November 24, 2026.

The decision applies to financial institutions and electronic clearing houses nationwide, including provinces where November 10 is not a general public holiday. Bank branches will therefore remain closed to the public, while electronic banking, cards and ATMs should continue to operate normally.
November 9 had already been declared a nationwide public holiday, while the November 10 civil holiday applies only in the City of Buenos Aires and Córdoba.

The Council of Ministers is still studying how to facilitate attendance without excessive disruption to economic activity, and options reportedly still under consideration include one or more holidays, half-day holidays, compensable non-working days and measures limited to particular cities. But no definitive dates or geographical scope have yet been announced.

The Deputy Spokesperson for Thailand's Prime Minister's Office, Lalida Periswiwatana, has announced that the government of Thailand had declared Monday, September 28, and Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as special public holidays in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan provinces, due to heavy rainfall and flooding in many areas, which are affecting public transportation.
State enterprises, financial institutions, and the private sector, are encouraged to consider the appropriateness of also declaring this day as a holiday.
A later announcement by the Bank of Thailand (BOT) indicated that commercial banks are requested to continue providing their services to the public as usual to ensure the continuity of financial transactions.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand is also expected to remain open as usual.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Assembly Bill 2017, adding Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha to the state’s statutory list of holidays.
The designation does not automatically require the closure of state offices, public schools, community colleges, local agencies or private businesses, and courts are expressly excluded from observing the two dates as judicial holidays.

Ceuta Proposes 2027 Local Public Holidays

The government of the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta has proposed Wednesday, March 10, and Thursday, September 2, as its 2 local public holidays for the calendar year 2027.
The March 10 holiday would mark Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan, while September 2 would commemorate Ceuta Day.
The proposal has received the unanimous support of the PP, PSOE, MDyC and Ceuta Ya! in the Presidency and Governance Committee, and will be submitted to the plenary assembly on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, before being communicated to the competent labour authority.
The proposed 2027 calendar also retains Monday, May 17, for Eid al-Adha, and Thursday, August 5, for the feast of Our Lady of Africa, Ceuta’s patroness.
However, San Antonio, on June 13, would not be transferred to a weekday despite it falling on a Sunday in 2027.

South Korea Could Restore UN Day Public Holiday

South Korean Democratic Party lawmaker Yang Boo-nam has introduced legislation seeking to restore October 24, United Nations Day, as an annual national holiday.
October 24 was observed as a statutory public holiday in South Korea from 1950 until 1975, before being removed from the holiday calendar in 1976.
The current proposal would initially restore its status as a national commemorative holiday, but it would not automatically make it a non-working public holiday. This would require a separate legislative amendment.
