Bangladesh's government has announced that it had declared 2 additional one-off non-working public holidays in Bangladesh for the upcoming third and fourth phases of Union Parishad (UP) polls, on April 23 and May 7, 2016, respectively.

The aforementioned announcement that Bangladesh's government had declared April 23 and May 7, 2016, as non-working public holidays in Bangladesh for the upcoming Union Parishad (UP) polls, is a rebuke to the recent note sent by Bangladesh's Election Commissioner Abu Hafiz, who had issued a note against future polling/election days being declared one-off non-working public holidays in Bangladesh (2015-06-16).

The aforementioned announcement of April 23 and May 7, 2016, as public holidays in Bangladesh thus amends the Notice No: 06.00.0000.270.08.005.12-280 of the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (2015-11-02) which announced the official list of non-working public holidays in Bangladesh for the calendar year 2016, as concerns the dates of the 2016 public holidays in Bangladesh.
