The Information Department of Brunei Darussalam's Prime Minister's Office has released a list of official bank holidays and public holidays in Brunei Darussalam during the calendar year 2017 in the Surat Keliling Jabatan Perdana Menteri Bil 9/2016 Negara Brunei Darussalam Hari-Hari Kelepasan Awam Tahun 2017.
As usual (2015-08-25, 2014-10-04, 2013-10-05, 2012-09-25 and 2011-08-29), the aforementioned list of official bank holidays and public holidays in Brunei Darussalam during the calendar year 2017, signed by the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, Mohd Rizza Bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, leaves the dates of the various Muslim public holidays (Prophet Muhammad's Birthday, 1st Day of Ramadhan, Nuzul Al-Quraan, Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Hari Raya Aidil Adha, and 1st Day of Muharram) as "Subject to changes".
Contrary to what happened for the 2013-2014-2015 Brunei public holidays (2015-07-01, 2014-06-28 and 2013-07-08), there is no need for the declaration of another one-off public holiday in August 2017, for the observance of the 71st birthday of the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as his birthday will this year no longer fall during the month of Ramadan.
