Late last night, China's General Office of the State Council released the official list of non-working public holidays in China in 2017, as well as 2017 bridge public holidays, and compensatory Saturdays and Sundays for the upcoming calendar year 2017.
The aforementioned announcement of the official 2017 non-working public holidays in China ("Circular on the Arrangement of Certain Holidays in 2017 (Guobanfamingdian No.18)"), follows 2 relatively quiet years of public holidays in China (2015-12-11 and 2014-12-16), following the year 2014 which saw recriminations by citizens on the web, the axing the National Holiday Office (NHS), created in 2000, and tasked with the determination of China's annual non-working public holidays schedule (2014-09-17), and rumours that the Golden Weeks system was coming to an end (2014-09-21), followed by online polls (2013-11-27 and 2013-10-12), leading to the reinstatement of the Lunar New Year Eve public holiday in China, since then (2014-12-16 and 2013-12-11).
