Eritrean 2016 Public Holidays Released

(Posted on Friday, February 5, 2016)

Source: Ministry of Information of the State of Eritrea (Asmara)

The Eritrean government has announced its list of annual official national and religious non-working public holidays in Eritrea for the calendar year 2016.

In many past years (23-Mar-2013 and 03-Jan-2012), but not all (03-Jan-2014), the announced dates of Muslim public holidays in Eritrea followed, or even preceded, those calculated by the Umm al-Qura calendar used by Saudi Arabia, and were often later changed at the last-minute (08-Sep-2010 and 18-Sep-2009). This was not the case for the list of annual official national and religious non-working public holidays in Eritrea of last year (04-Jan-2015) nor of this year.
