Fiji's Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Semi Koroilavesau, has announced that the upcoming March 30, 2016, non-working public holiday in Fiji, as set out in the "Gazette Notice No.68" listing the annual non-working public holidays in Fiji in 2016, had been canceled ("All workers, employers and the public are advised that there will not be a public holiday on Wednesday next week").
Wednesday, March 30, 2016, had been included as the date of the 2016 Prophet Mohammed's Birthday public holiday in Fiji, in the "Gazette Notice No. 68" (2015-10-21 and 2015-09-22), which listed the dates of the official non-working public holidays in Fiji for the calendar year 2016. That list of the 2016 public holidays in Fiji was later amended (2016-01-18), but as we remarked at the time, in both versions of the list of public holidays in Fiji for the calendar year 2016, the date for the Fiji annual non-working public holiday for Prophet Mohammed's birthday was incorrect.
As per yesterday's revised "Gazette Notice No.77", the date of the 2016 Prophet Mohammed's Birthday public holiday in Fiji will be December 12, 2016.
