The leader of Ghana's Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has announced that if he wins the upcoming presidential elections in Ghana, he would act to cancel the annual, May 25, non-working public holiday of Ghana ("This will be on my hit list as the President of the Republic of Ghana").

May 25 is regularly declared a statutory non-working public holiday in Ghana (2016-05-24, 2015-05-20 and 2013-05-24), in line with the list of official non-working public holidays in Ghana, announced each year (2016-01-01, 2015-01-03, 2014-01-02, 2013-01-14,...).

The next presidential election in Ghana is scheduled for December 2016.
