The spokeswoman for the Governor of Guam, Oyaol Nigirairikl, has announced that Guam Governor, Eddie Calvo, would not be declaring Friday, November 25, 2016, the day after the upcoming Thanksgiving non-working public holiday of Guam, as another one-off GovGuam public sector holiday in Guam.

Today's announcement that Friday, November 25, 2016, would not be declared a one-off GovGuam public sector holiday in Guam, thus leaves unchanged the official list of non-working public holidays in Guam for the calendar year 2016 released earlier this year (2015-01-09 and 2015-01-10).

Last year (2015-11-24), an Executive Order was issued by Guam Governor, Eddie Calvo, declaring the Friday after the 2015 Thanksgiving non-working public holiday of Guam, Friday, November 27, 2017, as a one-off GovGuam public sector holiday in Guam, to "allow parents and children to spend some family time together", in addition to the official list of non-working public holidays in Guam for the calendar year 2015 released and later amended that same year (2015-01-09 and 2015-01-10).

The year before (2014-11-21), a similar declaration of Friday, November 28, 2014, as a one-off GovGuam public sector holiday in Guam was made to allow civil servants "to rest and re-energize"), and a few years before (2011-11-22), the Governor of Guam, Eddie Calvo, had similarly declared Friday, November 25, 2011, the day after Thanksgiving, as a GovGuam public sector holiday granted for public servants to "Rest, take a break and re-energize" after a difficult year marked by "suspension of pay raises and increments".
