The government of Indonesia has gazetted its recently-amended annual decree ("Surat Keputusan Bersama (SKB) Hari Libur Nasional dan Cuti Bersama Tahun 2017") designating the list of Indonesian public holidays and collective leave days ("cuti bersama") for the calendar year 2017, for both the private and public sectors.

Last month (2016-11-29), the government of Indonesia has amended its previously-released annual decree ("Surat Keputusan Bersama (SKB) Hari Libur Nasional dan Cuti Bersama Tahun 2017") designating the list of Indonesian public holidays and collective leave days ("cuti bersama") for the calendar year 2017, for both the private and public sectors, by adding the long-expected Pancasila Day annual public holiday of Indonesia and shuffling around the list of collective leave days public holidays in Indonesia in 2017, established in the late spring(2016-04-14), as per custom (2015-06-26, 2014-05-07, 2014-10-24, 2015-02-22 and 2013-08-23).

The Cuti Bersama were introduced after the 2002 Bali bombings (2002-11-07) to promote internal tourism as a means to compensate diminishing foreign tourism. The number of these additional public holidays rose from 3 in 2002 to 6 in 2008 (2007-05-31), but then later in 2008, the number of these was sharply reduced (2008-02-05), while subsequent years' announcements (2010-06-15, 2011-07-14 and 2012-02-01) brought the total of Cuti Bersama close to the pre-2008 counts.
